8 WAYS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR RDSP
-
Get started! You can’t earn income on government money that you haven’t received!
-
Learn about the RDSP. Visit www.rdsp.com and work through the tutorial or sign up for a free seminar; or simply dial 1-866-382-9255 and speak to a Fisgard RDSP rep.
-
If you don’t have your Disability Tax Credit (DTC), think of it as an opportunity, not a barrier; your DTC claim of $15,000 or more could jumpstart your plan. Check out the RDSP Resource Centre at www.rdspresource.ca for lots of plain-English help.
-
Apply for the Canada Disability Savings Bond. You could be eligible for up to $4,000 without making any contributions whatsoever. Don’t miss this great opportunity!
-
Play with the RDSP calculator at www.rdsp.com. It is a great tool to help you learn how to maximise your resources.
-
Make a contribution to your RDSP. A contribution of $2,000 to a new RDSP could net you as much as $6,000 in the Canada Disability Savings Grant.
-
Contribute to your RDSP monthly. It’s easier to contribute a little bit each month than a big chunk at the end of each year.
-
Be sure to let grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc (and friends) know about the RDSP and how it works. They may want to contribute to your RDSP – you never know. Especially when they know that their contributions will result in matching grants from the government.
